It is believed that in 997, Thorfinn led a expedition to find the lost continent of [[Atlantis]] based on the directions recorded in the book known as The Shepherd's Journal. He would be the sole survivor, washing up on shore in Iceland barely alive and explaining how the expedition was destroyed by a large creature twice the size of their ship. Among those lost was the book itself.

It is believed that in 997, Thorfinn participated in an expedition to find the lost continent of [[Atlantis]] based on the directions recorded in the book known as The Shepherd's Journal. He would be the sole survivor, washing up on shore in Iceland barely alive and explaining how the expedition was destroyed by a large creature twice the size of their ship. Among those lost was the book itself.

Thorfinn vowed to recover the book and bring it back to it's "rightful" home in Iceland. Coincidentally, Thorfinn's son [[Snorri Thorfinnsson]] would come into possession of the book long after his father had passed.
